FAQ

  • Coaching is a journey of reflection, discovery and self-awareness combined with action and self-motivation. Coaching is, for the majority, non-advisory, solution focused and designed to move you forward rather than dwelling on the past. It’s a powerful method to help you improve, grow, develop and learn new skills and tools to manage your life and relationships more effectively.

  • When reflecting on your childhood experiences, I will often refer to your "Inner Child," a concept in psychology that encompasses the lasting impressions made upon us during those formative years. This includes both positive and negative experiences, which were largely shaped by your relationships with your parents and other influential figures. This type of work blends together several frameworks, such as attachment theory, somatics, Jungian Shadow work, Internal Family Systems, and Psychodynamic theories, that draw on the idea that your past experiences inform your present and future, and that your unconscious mind and body hold valuable insights into your life experiences. Engaging in this type of work entails exploring what makes for a safe, supportive, and nurturing relationship while also processing the grief and loss associated with the childhood you needed but didn't receive.

  • NLP focuses on the ways your thoughts affect your behaviour. More specifically, it seeks to understand the ways your brain interprets signals from your environment and how these are interpreted to affect what you do. It does this through examining the language of your mind (the linguistic part of NLP techniques). By understanding how your brain processes information, NLP techniques can provide insight around your thoughts, feelings and behaviour as things that you can control, rather than things that passively happen to you. Furthermore, by changing the way you think, I believe, together, we can change your life – and relationships!

  • To respect and hold your vision, to challenge you when it’s needed, to support you, to be honest with you, to openly communicate with you, to curate and tailor the information to your needs and finally, to make it all as enjoyable and enlightening as possible!

  • To be committed to change, to show up to the sessions ready to transform and in the right mindset and energy. To complete the home practices, to be honest, to practice open communication, to challenge yourself and finally, to enjoy the process!

  • You will be going through a life changing experience and at times, it can be intense and emotionally heavy. But don’t worry – you’ll be given space to feel whatever comes up for you and you will be taught self-soothing skills to cope with any emotions that may arise. Facing your struggles requires an element of bravery so that you can do the work needed to build a loving relationship with yourself and create a life you love.

  • Coaching is not a replacement for therapy, nor am I encouraging you to think it is. Coaching is for people who are psychologically healthy & merely seeking support through specific relationship challenges. You are advised to read the medical disclaimer on katieodonoghue.com and to read the full ‘Terms of Use’ if you are starting to think coaching can substitute therapy.

  • To ensure the effectiveness of my coaching service, I recommend a minimum of 3 sessions. This approach allows for an appropriate plan to be developed, or for goals to be determined. Please note that if you are seeking ad-hoc or infrequent sessions, my coaching service may not be the best fit for you. I firmly believe that the key to your success lies in regular sessions that enable you to maintain consistency and momentum in your progress.

  • My aim is to help you achieve your desired results, and to facilitate this, I recommend spacing your sessions no more than one to two weeks apart. This interval ensures that you maintain a level of consistency, engagement, and commitment to the coaching process, enabling you to build momentum towards your goals. Once you have completed the first couple of sessions, you may space out subsequent sessions further apart as you see fit or as we near the end of your journey. However, I recommend maintaining regular sessions to reinforce the progress you've made and to continue building upon your success.

  • Individual coaching sessions are $180 per session. Couples sessions are $250 per session.

  • There is a no refund policy for sessions booked and this is to ensure that only committed clients pursue this journey. You are invited to have an initial session prior to signing on to the five session bundle to see if my coaching is for you and to see if we are a good match. For more details on the refund policy, please see the ‘Terms of Use’ on this website. The only exception to this policy is in the case of a medical or personal emergency which is assessed on a case by case basis. Reschedules are allowed to accommodate for the no refund policy.

  • Absolutely! I am pleased to offer a 5-session bundle package where you will receive the 6th session free of charge when you book and pay for all 5 sessions in advance. • Rescheduling an appointment is allowed up to 24hours before an appointment to accommodate work clashes or other commitments that may affect attendance. You will be sent an appointment reminder 48hours before your appointment to allow adequate time for a reschedule.

  • While you may cancel an appointment up to 24 hours before the scheduled time, it's important to note that doing so will result in the loss of the appointment and any associated costs. In contrast, if you choose to reschedule, you can retain the appointment and avoid incurring a loss of session. So, please keep in mind that cancelling an appointment may come with a consequence of losing the opportunity to receive services at that scheduled time.

  • Please be aware that missed appointments are non-refundable, as it is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct date and time scheduled and have taken necessary measures to prevent any such occurrences. I strive to assist you in avoiding such inconveniences by sending you a reminder 48 hours before your appointment. I highly recommend that you take advantage of this feature to help prevent any losses.
